ORGANIZATION By-LAWS

1. PURPOSE:

To provide an opportunity for seniors to enjoy ice hockey and social connections with a group of players who share an abiding love for the game of hockey and to help others in need.

2. REQUIREMENTS:

Members should be in their 60th year of age and prospective new members should submit a request for admittance to a board member. The board will review applicants and determine their suitability for acceptance to the group.

3. RULES:

Ice Hockey is a contact sport and is subject to inadvertent body contact. Checking and slap-shots are not allowed. Members who become unruly in any way may be asked by the Board to leave the group. Only active members are eligible to vote on issues brought before the group by the Board.

4. CHARITIES:

Charitable contributions shall be made annually to non-profit organizations selected by the Board. Priority shall be given to local Smithfield charities as we are fortunate to retain ice time in Smithfield.

5. FEES:

A fee of $3.00 per player shall be assessed for both Wednesday and Friday ice time. The Board will attempt to distribute the accumulated funds on an approximate 50% basis to charities and 50% to Rhody Oldies’ business and social events.

6. THE BOARD:

The Board shall consist of three members elected by the active membership at an annual business meeting to be held in October. In order to retain continuity on the Board, one office per year shall be up for election. The Board will be comprised of the following officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
